THE NEED
It has long been recognized that the success or otherwise of an organization’s transactions with its clientele depends, to a large extent, on the emotions, attitudes and values of its employees. This is very prominent in service industry which comprises finance, utilities, Marketing, Hospitality, Tourism. etc.
Employees in these areas of human endeavours are often faced with emotionally charged encounters requiring specific emotional displays. At certain levels in organisations, leaders gradually move away from the technicalities of their organizations to conceptual issues that are required to manage the mood of such organizations, most especially the people issues.
In various organization leaders are required to manifest Psychological abilities known as EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE, which is the ability to recognize ones own feelings and those of others to optimize organizational effectiveness. To achieve this, they must be able to know themselves very well if they are to be on top of the dynamics of the environment.
